My dogs fur is changing colors?

i have a two year old maltipoo. she is all white with very soft and curly fur. about two months ago we got her fixed(moms decision)and she started growing little scraggly brown hairs on her back she keeps growing more of them to where she has light brown patches on her. could it be a hormonal thing and are there ways to stop it?
